About Me.

My name is Jane, I am a mother of 4 and a grandmother. I love looking after my grandchildren, going on holiday in my Campervan and enjoy going to see live entertainment from the theatre to Rugby. I love life and have had my fair share of ups and downs, I believe having the right person/people in your corner is fundamental to survival in this crazy world. I am neurodivergent as are many of my family members and understand the difficulties in navigating what this world can throw our way on a daily basis.

I have worked in pastoral care for over 3 decades, I volunteered in various fields including 25 years in a local school alongside other community organisations. I work in a community counselling service in conjunction with my private practice. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.

I thrive when helping others to reach their full potential and pride myself in being able to create a safe space where people can be their authentic self. I help people find their own answers in a non-biased and non-judgmental way by enabling their self exploration to assist in them finding their own solutions, answers and truths. I see myself as a supportive facilitator, my approach is integrative and very intuitive, my main process is talking therapy following the Rogerian theory but sometimes I feel I have something in my pocket to help that journey and will use other techniques to help people tap into their own capacity for self-understanding and change.

I have worked with clients from the ages of 4 to 74, am an ally of the LGBTQIA+ community and I believe humans can always find a way to work together if they find the courage to try!

My Approach

Confidentiality

Confidentiality is at the core of my therapy practice. I prioritize privacy and trust, ensuring that your personal information and sessions remain completely confidential.

Accessibility

I offer over the phone or online sessions, and am also available to take sessions in an accessible building face-to-face. This means that sessions are sure to be accessible for all, regardless of distance or physical ability. My practise is also friendly for neurodivergent people, and I believe I am a patient and understanding counsellor.

Acceptance

Come as you are, and I will respect you and give you a safe space to explore the things that you feel are holding you back. Everybody deserves to be listened to and feel understood, and I strive to ensure my clients the utmost empathy, honesty, respect and trust in our sessions.

Testimonials

In November 2010, I gave birth to twin boys. Unfortunately, I lost one to an infection 6 weeks later. Navigating such unexpected loss was difficult for us adults but significantly worse for our 7 and 4-year-old kids. The 4-year-old was an undiagnosed autistic child at the time, so you can imagine that being an added factor. Their primary school was very supportive and Mrs King was one of the helpers in the school. She offered to help and gave my kids drawing and talking therapy sessions with her. My son was truly broken but he looked forward to those sessions, sometimes he wouldn't talk but he expressed himself through those drawings. Even when he got into CAMHS years later, he still drew to express himself. I cannot thank Mrs King enough. She changed both their lives with these sessions, she's a natural. I would tell any parent navigating something similar to try this type of therapy with their young child.

S, from Surrey

I have worked with Jane for three years counselling adults and children alike. I would say that she is one of the main reasons why my own practice is so successful now and she has taught me how to look after my clients with care and skill. She was always my first stop when I needed help with my young people and her advice was always instinctive and absolutely the right way to go. I still ask her for advice whenever I get stuck and she always knows the right thing to say to my clients so therefore she would be a fantastic counsellor for young people and adults alike. I can't recommend her enough

Jane is an empathic and grounded counsellor. Her approach is genuinely calm and her colourful and vibrant aura immediately puts you at ease. Jane creates an environment that gives you the feeling of being safe and able to open up. Jane comes with many diverse life experiences, which clearly contributes to a deep level of empathy not pity which is what you need.  I appreciated how fully rounded Jane is in everyday situations and modern life challenges. Making her diverse and respectful of other cultures and faiths. Which in return she offers a customised perspective that is both practical and supportive. Jane is a counsellor who is attentive, empathetic, and provides a calm, grounded space for anyone of any background.
